Verizon and Nvidia have announced a partnership aimed at developing AI services targeted at enterprises, leveraging Verizon’s private 5G network. This collaboration will introduce the "5G Private Network with Enterprise AI," which will enable AI applications and workloads to operate over Verizon’s private 5G network, enhanced by Mobile Edge Compute (MEC). This infrastructure allows computing and storage to be positioned closer to devices, resulting in ultra-low latency.

Nvidia will contribute its AI Enterprise software platform and NIM microservices, designed to offer real-time AI services on-site for enterprise clients. The goal is to streamline the implementation process, making it as easy as possible for businesses to adopt these technologies. Demonstrations of this solution by Verizon engineers are set to commence in early 2025.

The platform will also feature multitenancy capabilities, allowing it to cater to various customers and use cases. It can be deployed on-site through either a permanent private network or a portable connection, along with the ability to scale as needed to fit specific application requirements.

According to Srini Kalapala, Verizon’s Senior Vice President of Technology and Product Development, the collaboration will harness unique strengths from both companies, combining private networks with high-bandwidth, secure, low-latency AI applications. The software platform is being developed to accommodate compute-intensive applications, such as generative AI, large language models, computer vision, and IoT scenarios.
