Researchers are warning organizations that use Nvidia GPUs for AI workloads to urgently update their systems due to critical security vulnerabilities in the Nvidia Container Toolkit, which is essential for running GPU-accelerated containers. These vulnerabilities could potentially allow attackers to access sensitive data, steal proprietary AI models, or disrupt operations.

Nvidia had previously issued a patch in September for CVE-2024-0132, a time-of-check time-of-use (TOCTOU) vulnerability that was rated at 9 out of 10 in severity. The Trend Micro team labeled the fix for CVE-2024-0132 as "incomplete," noting that the remaining vulnerability could lead to denial-of-service (DoS) attacks. This has created confusion among users who believed that their systems were secured once the first patch was installed.
