ThisWay Global has made plans to convert a defunct data center initiative at Texas A&M University’s RELLIS Campus into a state-of-the-art 73 MW AI and research center. Originally, a private developer was working on this project but it fell into bankruptcy in November 2025, leaving it incomplete.
After acquiring the project through bankruptcy proceedings on September 30, 2026, ThisWay Global aims to demonstrate its Sovereign AI Blueprint, which focuses on controlling data, AI models, and computing resources to ensure verifiable claims of digital sovereignty. The CEO of TWG, Stephan Fabel, emphasized the importance of the site for innovation and collaboration with various sectors, including defense and healthcare.
Strategically located on public land, the facility will leverage existing infrastructure while aiming to repurpose it for AI applications. The first phase will account for approximately 25% of its total computing power while allowing TWG to engage with Texas A&M University for research and workforce development initiatives.
Given the original building’s design, TWG will update it to accommodate high-density computing and implement closed-loop liquid cooling systems designed for advanced computing tasks. The demand for high-performance computing (HPC) resources is driving this redesign, allowing the center to handle high-demand workloads efficiently.
The center will employ TWG’s software stack, Amalgamy.AI, which is intended to uphold strict privacy controls and compliance standards while providing essential computational power for pivotal sectors such as security, healthcare, and energy research.
