Lightpath has recently completed the acquisition of WANRack’s network assets in the Phoenix metropolitan area, aiming to significantly bolster its fiber network in the region. This strategic acquisition adds 133 route miles of fiber to Lightpath’s existing infrastructure, expanding its total network to 363 route miles. This enhancement will not only improve connectivity between key data centers but also facilitate better customer integration.

The newly acquired network includes essential routes linking Goodyear’s data center ecosystem with major carrier hotels in Phoenix. Lightpath’s expansion is expected to enhance interconnectivity among the primary carrier exchange ecosystems in the area, linking them with emerging data center hubs in places like Goodyear, Buckeye, Chandler, Glendale, Mesa, and Tempe. This network will incorporate 10 critical data centers linked through underground, multi-duct conduit systems, offering proximity to over 30 additional data center campuses.

Currently, Lightpath operates on 133 miles of the newly acquired fiber, with construction of additional segments set for Q2 2025. The company plans to have the entire network operational by the end of 2026, ensuring reliable connectivity for enterprise and data center customers throughout the region.

Rachel Stack, CFO of Lightpath, emphasized the importance of this acquisition, noting that WANRack’s operations in Phoenix align with Lightpath’s expansion goals while addressing immediate customer demands.
