The dotMeow Foundation’s application has received acceptance into ICANN’s Applicant Support Program, which will lower the hefty application fee of $227,000 by a significant 75%-85%. However, once legal and operational costs are taken into account, the overall expenses to establish a new TLD remain substantial.
To mitigate these costs, the foundation is appealing to the community for support through its Kickstarter campaign, which has already garnered backing from 676 contributors, raising over half of its financial target. Contributing backers can look forward to rewards, including domain vouchers that can be redeemed to register domains if the .meow TLD ultimately launches successfully.
