A judge in King County has ruled that Rob Monster must pay $349,407.61 to Matthew Adkisson, a former customer of the domain registrar Epik. This judgment follows a failed escrow transaction in which Adkisson attempted to purchase the domain nourish.com.
Adkisson had paid a total of $327,000 to Epik for the domain, which covered a $300,000 payment to the seller and a $27,000 commission. However, the seller did not deliver the domain, and Adkisson was never refunded his money. As a result, he initiated legal action to recover his losses, particularly in anticipation of a planned sale of Epik’s assets.
Court documents reveal that as a result of prior legal maneuvers, Adkisson received $427,000 from the proceeds of Epik’s sale. A settlement included a promissory note in which Monster agreed to pay Adkisson $100,000 within a year. When this payment was not made on time, the amount due ballooned to $310,000 due to stipulated conditions.
Additionally, the judge added interest and attorney fees to the total, resulting in the final judgment amount. The ruling targets Monster’s personal assets as well as those of his wife. Adkisson is not alone in his pursuit of financial restitution; there are others seeking compensation from Monster linked to his tenure as CEO of Epik.
