ICANN has published its Form 990 tax return for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, revealing significant financial details about the organization. The total revenue for this fiscal year reached $184.8 million, an increase from the $163.7 million reported the previous year, mainly due to a rise in investment income.

Salaries within the organization saw a notable increase, rising to $104.1 million from $90.8 million. However, ICANN also reported a tax loss of $11.9 million during this period.

The tax return indicated that six employees received W-2 compensation of $500,000 or more, including key figures like John Jeffrey (General Counsel), Sally Costerton (Interim President and CEO), and Xavier Calvez (CFO). Notably, Villavicencio received severance pay amounting to $406,000.

In total, three employees earned over $800,000 when accounting for retirement and nontaxable benefits. Additionally, seven other employees were compensated between $400,000 and $499,000.

Legal services provided by the law firm Jones Day cost ICANN $3.6 million for the fiscal year.
