HPE recently unveiled its ProLiant Gen13 servers, powered by AMD’s sixth-generation Epyc 9006 processors, aimed at catering to enterprise AI needs as well as traditional workloads. This launch marks a significant development in HPE’s strategy to balance CPU and GPU utilization for AI and enterprise applications.
The new lineup includes four server models, with the high-performance ProLiant DL585a Gen13 tailored for demanding tasks such as AI inference and retrieval-augmented generation. It can support multiple GPUs from major manufacturers like Nvidia, AMD, and Intel. This model is expected to be available in March 2027.
HPE is also focusing on smaller enterprises with the compact ProLiant DL525, a single-socket system that boasts up to 256 cores and a variety of application support, including fraud detection and market data processing. Additionally, two more models, scheduled for release in 2027, will offer high-density computing solutions for large enterprises, with capabilities for liquid and air cooling.
Analysts believe that HPE’s introduction of these AI-ready servers signals its commitment to meet the increasing adoption of AI technologies in enterprises. The sixth-generation Epyc chips are noted for their high core count and memory bandwidth, making them ideal for AI workloads.
HPE’s ProLiant Gen13 systems are designed to complement existing GPU servers through orchestration and orchestration management, which can be crucial for agentic AI workflows. This multi-server approach not only enhances performance but also allows for a variety of infrastructure solutions tailored to different enterprise needs.
Furthermore, accompanying the hardware advancements are improvements in security and management features. The systems will incorporate HPE Integrated Lights-Out 8 (iLO 8) for automated security solutions, including self-encrypting drives and support for post-quantum cryptography.
