Dell Technologies has enhanced its enterprise AI infrastructure with significant upgrades in servers, storage, and software. During the Supercomputing 25 conference, the company unveiled two new switches: the Dell PowerSwitch Z9964F-ON and the Dell PowerSwitch Z9964FL-ON. These switches offer an impressive switching capacity of 102.4 Tb/s, designed to fulfill the demands of modern AI fabrics.
Additionally, Dell introduced the PowerEdge XE8712 server, set to become available in December. This new server promises the highest GPU density in a standard rack, supporting up to 144 Blackwell-based GPUs. Enhanced by Dell’s Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) and OpenManage Enterprise (OME), the server ensures optimal thermal management and secure monitoring.
Deania Davidson, Dell’s senior director of product management for AI Server and Networking, emphasized the importance of this system’s real-time telemetry, which enhances system health monitoring and risk management. The Integrated Rack Controller can detect minute leaks and respond rapidly to prevent downtime in liquid-cooled setups.
In conjunction with the new server, Dell announced that its AMD Instinct-powered PowerEdge XE9785 and XE9785L are now generally available. There’s also a new Intel-based server, the PowerEdge R770AP, designed as an air-cooled platform using Intel Xeon 6 P-core 6900-series processors. It features high-core-count CPUs that enhance parallel processing and memory performance.
Dell’s partnership with Nvidia, initiated last year, continues with the integration of Dell’s ObjectScale and PowerScale unstructured data storage with the Nvidia NIXL library, a component of Nvidia Dynamo. This collaboration facilitates rapid deployment of AI models and reduces infrastructure costs while addressing GPU memory capacity issues.
