Dell Technology has launched a series of new products aimed at enhancing customers’ efforts in modernizing their data centers. These innovations support a wide range of workloads, including virtualization, database management, artificial intelligence (AI) inferencing, and high-performance computing (HPC).
The company emphasizes that PowerEdge rack servers are designed to provide a dependable and future-ready solution for today’s data centers. Organizations are increasingly reevaluating their IT strategies to accommodate both traditional and modern workloads while addressing growing cybersecurity threats. This shift involves transitioning to a disaggregated infrastructure, which separates compute, storage, and networking into shared resource pools, ultimately improving scalability, efficiency, and adaptability.
During a press briefing, Varun Chhabra, senior vice president of infrastructure and telecom marketing, noted, "Customers frequently express that they’re striving to architect their technology in ways that prevent vendor lock-in. It’s now about supporting virtual machines, containers, and bare metal."
The product updates include the introduction of new PowerEdge R470, R570, R670, and R770 servers, which are equipped with Intel Xeon 6 processors featuring P-cores. These servers are built for high-demand scenarios such as HPC, virtualization, analytics, and AI inferencing. Dell claims these servers can reduce energy costs by up to 50% compared to prior generations while accommodating up to 50% more cores per processor and offering a 67% improvement in performance. Notably, the R770 model can save up to 80% of space within a 42U rack. The design adheres to the standards set by the Open Compute Project and incorporates the Dell Modular Hardware System architecture.
Also receiving significant updates is the controller system, with enhancements in Dell OpenManage and the Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller. These improvements provide real-time monitoring capabilities, while the Dell PowerEdge RAID Controller for PCIe Gen 5 significantly reduces write latency, achieving reductions of up to 33 times.
Dell’s storage offerings have likewise seen substantial enhancements. The PowerScale scale-out flash storage portfolio has been updated for AI data management, now including 122TB solid-state drives that enable high-speed data access of up to 6PB within a single 2U enclosure. Both hybrid and archival storage nodes have been refined to enhance latency and overall performance.
The Dell ObjectScale object storage management system has also been improved, boasting eight times greater density compared to previous all-flash systems. New capabilities include multisite federation, copy-to-cloud functionality, geo-replication, and developed data governance solutions in collaboration with Wasabi Technologies.
Additionally, Dell introduced the PowerProtect DD6410 appliance, targeted at smaller businesses and remote offices. This appliance starts with a storage capacity of 12 TB and can scale up to 256 TB, offering faster restore speeds and improved data deduplication. Its All-Flash Ready Node is now capable of 61% faster restores, has reduced power consumption, and occupies 80% less physical space.
