Nebius has forged a partnership with Verne, a Nordic data center operator known for its fully renewable energy-powered high-performance computing facilities. Together, they are deploying a substantial 10MW NVIDIA H200 GPU cluster at Verne’s campus in Iceland, marking the largest deployment in Verne’s history.
This collaboration is part of Nebius’ strategic initiative to enhance its AI infrastructure across Europe and the U.S., focusing on scalable and energy-efficient solutions for heavy AI workloads. Verne’s Icelandic facility, which operates on renewable hydroelectric and geothermal energy sources, aligns perfectly with Nebius’ commitment to sustainability and high-performance AI computing.
The decision to team up with Verne stemmed from their operational reliability, technical know-how, and capability to meet Nebius’ rigorous geographical and technological standards. As a key supplier of GPU capacity in Europe, Nebius aims to couple advanced AI infrastructure with green energy, responding to the rising demand for AI computing while prioritizing environmental stewardship.
Dominic Ward, CEO of Verne, described the partnership as a significant move towards providing large-scale sustainable AI data center solutions. He accentuated the synergy between Nebius’ extensive AI infrastructure needs and Verne’s scalable services, underscoring Iceland’s renewable energy role in facilitating AI growth while reducing carbon emissions.
Andrey Korolenko, co-founder and chief product and infrastructure officer at Nebius, noted that Verne’s expertise and flexible deployment options made it a fitting partner for their AI deployments. This alliance is expected to boost Nebius’ capacity to offer comprehensive AI-native infrastructure for developers and enterprises globally, thereby enhancing its cloud services and making AI computing power more accessible.
Verne operates four renewable energy-powered data centers located in Iceland and Finland, optimized for high-demand applications such as HPC and AI. Additionally, Verne maintains a high-connectivity data center in London to support low-latency applications.
Headquartered in Amsterdam and publicly traded on Nasdaq, Nebius is a rapidly expanding provider of AI infrastructure, with R&D centers spanning Europe, North America, and Israel. The company primarily focuses on full-stack AI infrastructure, encompassing large-scale GPU clusters and cloud platforms, designed to support the growing global demand for AI workloads.
As part of the NVIDIA Partner Network, Nebius provides specialized infrastructure for AI training and inference. With over 400 engineers on board, the company offers a hyperscale cloud experience tailored to the unique needs of AI-driven businesses. The collaboration with Verne is a pivotal step for Nebius, aligning with its sustainability efforts while enhancing its global AI infrastructure capabilities.
