It wasn’t until a surprising $690 sale emerged from a typical workday that Justin realized the true potential of his endeavor. This turning point encouraged him to leave his steady corporate job and invest fully in LearnDash.
Managing every aspect of the business initially gave Justin invaluable insights into customer needs and pain points. Recognizing the limits of doing everything himself, he began the process of delegation, allowing him to concentrate on strategic growth. The release of LearnDash 3.0 marked a significant milestone, introducing features that enhanced user experience and solidified its market presence, alongside a timely price increase which notably boosted revenue.
Despite rapid expansion, Justin remained grounded, understanding that the essence of the business lay not in perfecting the code but in effective messaging and a strong connection with customers. He knew that keen marketing strategies were instrumental in reaching audiences, a crucial lesson for any non-technical founder. In 2021, feeling a shift in his passion for LearnDash, Justin made the tough decision to sell the business to Liquid Web. Although the company was thriving, he recognized that a lack of enthusiasm wasn’t fair to his team or customers.
