Radix, a key operator in the top-level domain (TLD) market, has reported a significant rise in premium domain registrations for the first half of 2025. The company registered 2,857 premium domains during this period, reflecting a remarkable 50% increase compared to the same timeframe in the previous year.
While Radix has ceased to disclose detailed revenue figures for these premium registrations, they had estimated that over $5 million was spent on premium domains in the first half of 2024. Their premium domain strategy follows a "high-high" model, which means higher pricing applies not only for the initial registration but also for subsequent renewals.
The .tech extension showed impressive growth, achieving a 70% increase in premium registrations year-over-year, totaling about 600 new registrations. This included 32 domain names priced at $5,000 or higher. The .fun extension led the list with 666 premium registrations, while .online, .store, and .space also ranked among the top five for new premium domain registrations.
Notably, domains that include "agent" have been particularly popular this year, adding to the overall trend of increasing interest in premium domain names.
