Microsoft Reports Strong Q4: Azure and AI Propel Cloud Revenue Past $75 Billion

Microsoft recently finished its fiscal year 2025 with impressive fourth-quarter results, highlighting the company’s growing position in the cloud infrastructure market and its increased emphasis on AI services. For the quarter ending June 30, Microsoft reported a revenue of $76.4 billion, marking an 18% rise compared to the previous year.

The key contributor to this success was Azure, which not only achieved over $75 billion in annual revenue—a 34% increase from last year—but also solidified its role in Microsoft’s growth strategy. CEO Satya Nadella pointed out that AI and cloud technology are crucial for transforming businesses across all sectors. He stated, "Cloud and AI is the driving force of business transformation across every industry and sector," emphasizing that innovation is primarily taking place through Azure as Microsoft integrates AI capabilities into its infrastructure, platform, and software layers.

In the fourth quarter, the Intelligent Cloud segment, which includes Azure, generated $29.9 billion in revenue, reflecting a 26% growth year-over-year. Azure’s services saw a 39% increase, illustrating widespread adoption of AI-enhanced infrastructure among enterprises. Microsoft’s investments in AI supercomputing and services like Azure OpenAI Service have positioned it as a preferred platform for enterprises working on large language models and scalable AI tasks.

The overall revenue from Microsoft Cloud, which incorporates Azure alongside other services like Microsoft 365 and Dynamics, reached $46.7 billion for the quarter, an increase of 27%. Microsoft 365, particularly with its AI-enhanced features, saw an 18% revenue growth in the Productivity and Business Processes area. Meanwhile, Dynamics 365 grew by 23% due to AI-driven automation and analytics.

Furthermore, Microsoft continues to expand its global AI data center capacity to support foundational model training and inference at scale. This strategic integration from hardware to software sets Azure apart from its competitors in the cloud market.

For the entire fiscal year, Microsoft posted revenues of $281.7 billion, a 15% rise, with net income climbing 16% to $101.8 billion. As AI increasingly influences enterprise IT, Microsoft’s commitment to embedding AI within its offerings positions it at the forefront of the ongoing digital transformation across industries.
