Is It Worth Listing Your Domain on Sedo and Spaceship Even If You Don’t Park It?

Is it beneficial to list your domains on platforms like Sedo and Spaceship even if they are not parked there? The general consensus is that while increased exposure is beneficial, the real question is whether the time investment is justified.

Any domain sales platform can facilitate sales if your domains are pointed to their for-sale landers; however, the effectiveness of such listings, even when domains are not parked, varies.

Sedo and Afternic have been prominent marketplaces for years, offering several ways to sell domains. Domains listed in their networks can appear in search results from partner registrars, or be directly accessed if parked on their platforms. Among these methods, access through registrar networks is the most effective.

Historically, I’ve opted to list my domains with Buy Now prices on Afternic while employing a Make Offer strategy on Sedo. This dual approach means I don’t have to manage the pricing across both platforms extensively. Sedo’s exposure may not be as comprehensive because my inventory updates are infrequent. Yet, I do receive offers from domains appearing on both platforms, indicating that there is some traffic and negotiation interest on Sedo.

When considering Spaceship, which is affiliated with Namecheap, I noted several advantages. Domains listed on Spaceship’s SellerHub can also be included in Namecheap’s search results if priced on Afternic or Sedo. However, for now, the integration appears to benefit Namecheap users more than Spaceship-only listings.

One key benefit of listing with SellerHub is the lower commission rate, only 5% compared to the 15% or higher fees on Afternic and Sedo. Additionally, there are indications that Spaceship may enhance its search functionality to include broader keyword matches.

Interestingly, there is evidence that at least one domain investor has successfully sold a domain on Spaceship that was also listed on Afternic, despite that domain not being pointed to Spaceship.

Managing multiple platforms can be cumbersome, particularly when adjusting prices. However, SellerHub provides an option to set domains to "Make Offer," although its performance compared to outright pricing remains uncertain.

I recently decided to upload my domains with pricing into SellerHub, using a bulk add tool that incorporates data from Afternic. The continuation of my listings on Spaceship will depend on whether this strategy leads to sales.
