Delska, a prominent data center operator in Northern Europe, has achieved a significant milestone with the introduction of its new 10MW data center in Latvia, which has received the Uptime Institute’s Tier III Design Certification prior to its expected launch later this year. This certification ensures strict redundancy and high availability, promising a remarkable uptime of 99.982 percent, which is crucial for businesses that rely on uninterrupted operations for mission-critical workloads.
The new facility is designed to support advanced applications, featuring provisions for up to 250 kW per rack, suitable for high-performance computing and artificial intelligence. Its modular structure spans 6,000 square meters, allowing for future expansions up to a total campus capacity of 30 MW. This development aligns with the increasing demand for reliable data center space in Europe, particularly as operators seek alternatives to saturated major markets constrained by power limitations.
Sustainability is a core aspect of this new data center, which will operate entirely on 100 percent renewable wind energy, supplemented by renewable diesel for backup. The facility aims for a targeted power usage effectiveness of 1.3 and incorporates various energy-efficient technologies, including free cooling systems and advanced wall cooling. Delska is also seeking LEED green building certification, positioning this facility among a select number of environmentally certified buildings in Latvia.
Once construction is completed, the data center will also undergo a validation process for Tier III Facility certification to ensure its construction and operational capabilities, making it the third such facility in Delska’s portfolio. Currently, the company operates two certified data centers in Lithuania and has plans for further expansion within the Baltics to enhance regional service coverage.
With over two decades of expertise in IT and network infrastructure, Delska has established itself as a key player in the region. The company’s operations extend beyond Latvia and Lithuania to include locations in Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Stockholm, providing a comprehensive range of services from cloud solutions to managed services and security.
Supported by Quaero European Infrastructure Fund II since 2020, Delska is on an ambitious growth trajectory focused on sustainable infrastructure. The recent rebranding of DEAC and DLC to Delska, along with the incorporation of RackRay, has streamlined its operations under one brand. The certification of the EU North Riga LV DC1 reflects Delska’s dual commitment to operational resilience and sustainability amid the rising demand for energy-efficient, high-performance data centers across Europe.
