Notifications were sent to my iPhone regarding the readiness of each side of the grill and the completion of set timings. I have also utilized the meat thermometer probes that attach to the front panel, receiving updates for these as well.

Usage of the app is optional thanks to the comprehensive front screen control, a significant advantage. Nevertheless, the app is helpful for monitoring temperatures and the built-in timer, especially when stepping away inside the house.

Everything features rounded rectangles, and the different shades of gray enhance a feel of sophistication and finesse. It’s a barbecue that looks good even when not in use. To an unknowing eye, this grill mimics the classic gas grill in appearance.

The side shelves are straightforward to attach and detach, yet they stay securely once set up. The build is robust, ranging from the outer body to the inner parts, with solid but detachable grates covering the electric heating elements. There’s an option to add doors to conceal the heating trays.

Using the grill is effortless: you set your desired temperature, place your food, and turn it as necessary. The grill’s ability to achieve up to 700 degrees is impressive for an electric model. Getting notifications on my mobile phone adds to the convenience of grilling outdoors.

The Current Backyard app, compatible with both Apple iOS and Google Android, offers recipes and features like pre-heat and timer settings. However, these functions could benefit from more detailed instructions.

For instance, when I aimed to prepare steaks to medium-rare, the app advised using the thermometer probes to check for doneness. However, I had to search another website for the specific internal temperatures required for cooking. It would be greatly beneficial if Current Backyard could integrate this information directly into their app in future updates.

I encountered some issues with the screen layout in the Current Backyard app, causing distortion of the display. This, however, may be due to my use of the beta version of the upcoming iOS 18. I anticipate that these problems will be resolved with the official release of iOS 18 by Apple this September.

An enhancement that could significantly improve the app is the functionality to view two recipes at the same time. While this might be complex for some users, the advantage of a dual-sided grill is the capability to cook various items simultaneously without having to toggle back and forth between recipes.

Operating the Model G Dual-Zone Electric Grill manually is incredibly straightforward. This product is perfect for those seeking a high-quality electric grill that not only performs well but can also reach temperatures up to 700 degrees.

You can adjust the temperature on each side, use the provided thermometer probes, and set timers all from the front panel controls, which include a large, clickable knob and numerous smaller touchable buttons.

It took about 15 minutes for the Current Backyard to reach 650 degrees from a cold start, unlike a gas grill, which could achieve that temperature in less than 10 minutes. However, this wasn’t a major issue for me.

On the positive side, it only took about two hours to assemble the Current Model G Dual-Zone Electric Grill. The well-designed instructional videos were available to view on your smartphone or tablet, suggesting a two-person assembly for lifting the cooking unit onto the cart. Despite this, I managed to assemble it entirely by myself.

Cleaning the barbecue can be somewhat tedious. It features four detachable grills which are easy to remove and attach back. Despite getting stained after just one use, its cleaning mode turns leftover food residues into ash. However, you might still need to use steel wool to scrub off some remains in the sink to prevent adding burnt bits to your food next time. I find that using a damp sponge specifically made for cleaning gas grills helps get rid of any leftovers effectively.
